Thai Nights, Cambridge Mornings

Had a great time last night at the Thai Night 2004, an evening of everything Thai, at the Guildhall in Cambridge.

Food, music and traditional dance, all organised by the Thai students society, with wonderfully carved food stalls and even the Thai ambassador for London. And the evening was hosted by none other than Patty and Nathan, our very own MBA glamour couple! The MBA turnout was good as well - about 15 of us in all.

Half way through the evening I was called on stage to have a valentines note from a 'secret admirer' read out aloud to me. Of course it was a bit of fun, but I happily milked it with the other MBAs, especially in the Anchor afterwards (the 'anti-valentines' party). But I think the highlight of the evening had to be the purchase of opium incense from the 'products from Thailand' stand. I'm not sure it was supposed to be there, so I snapped it up before anyone looked to carefully!

The night before was a trek - 4 in the morning at Sauce, a new bar on the corner of Station and Hills road. Met the owner who turned out to be an ex-runner at the LIFFE (derivatives exchange) in London. I think I missed working in the City more than he did, probably because he saw more of it.

All this built up into a bit of a come down Sunday morning, made worse by the fact that I have to make a final push to complete a company shareholder valuation for Dixons, that's causing problems. The work is piling up and so is the stress. And we're playing Oxford in the MBA Olympics very soon.

I may just have to dip into that opium incense at some point this week!
