Ministry of Funny Walks

Glancing around the Judge Institute today are a number of stiff, scarred and bruised students, all waddling more than walking. No, we hadn't got into a fight with the townies over the weekend (well, not yet), rather we'd had a solid game of football the day earlier...

Sunday 28th. 1pm. Cambridge.

They converged on Jesus Green as the grey stormclouds gathered overhead, each one surveying the other twelve.

Time for football.

It had been a tough week for the class of 2003 and they all needed to let off some steam. Even so, they weren't expecting quite the level of passion that was quickly aroused once the teams were sorted and the game was under way.

Quick passing, daring tackles and lightening shots. Both sides of six were not just 'playing for fun', despite what the earlier email said. Half an hour had gone by in a flash, and both teams were dripping with sweat. But one side had decisively taken control of the game, with the score at 6-3.

The gloves were coming off.

In a desparate final bid, the underdogs rallied to push forward! Tight play, quick one-two's and deft footwork helped even up the scores a little, but ultimately the outcome was never in doubt. The opposition had nothing left to give after another hour of such valiant effort, and with both sides spent, the 'White Shirts' pulled off a sluggish victory at 10-5.

Man of the match to Sam for passion and creating chances, golden goal goes to Christoff, fastest goal to Max for a fluke, craziest goal to Ethan for an excellently-headed own-goal and finally dirtiest tackles to Matt and Ashley for chopping Max's windpipe and tearing up his shins, repectively - nice teamwork boys :)

With passion and heart like that shown on Sunday (and a bit more practice!), Oxford and London don't stand a chance!
